Tankwa Town is the AfrikaBurn site in the Tankwa Karoo, around 300 km north-east of Cape Town. The drive is brutal — five to seven hours over corrugated dirt that destroys tyres and cars. By air it's under an hour to a private airstrip a short transfer from the gate. SkyBurn runs scheduled helicopter and aircraft transfers throughout the event week.
